Local artwork created for development
We’re so excited to announce our collaboration with local Portsmouth artist, Simon Whitcomb, to create a painting that will be used in the branding for Lennox Point.
“The City: A view from Lennox Point” is an acrylic painting on canvas, which depicts a view from Tipner West, across Portsmouth Harbour and towards the south of the city.
The artwork will be used to highlight the site’s relationship with nature and the sea, and will be showcased on our website, social media channels and as part of campaigns to raise awareness of the proposals for the development at Lennox Point.
Simon said: “Much of my artwork features sea views from Milton Common, looking out towards Langstone Harbour with a focus on the natural features of Milton shoreline. When I was painting this piece for Lennox Point, I realised that these two areas were very similar – Milton Common sits on reclaimed land and was formerly a waste tip, but it has gone on to become one of the most treasured areas of natural beauty and wildlife habitat in the city. So I replicated this approach for this painting.
“The foreground of the artwork for Lennox Point features natural plant life and marsh that can be seen around this part of the coast, and this aims to reflect the development’s green ethos and ambitions to develop a sustainable community that will breed wildlife and biodiversity. The large focus on Portsmouth Harbour reflects the development’s ambitions to create another part of the city with direct access to the coast.”
